Space Coast Celiac & Gluten Intolerance Support Group

Tomorrow kicks off the very first Space Coast Celiac & Gluten Intolerance Support group meeting! I am so excited to finally get this group going. It's been a long time coming and all the pieces finally fell into place for this to happen. I can not wait to bring so much support, education, and guidance to our local gluten free community. My business partner Michael and I have so much planned over the coming months.

So please come out and join us. ALL ages! We will have monthly meetings every third Monday from 6:30pm-7:30pm. I will post either on my Glam Without Gluten Facebook page or on The Bald Strawberry Facebook page if the meetings are cancelled or will be rescheduled. Aside from the monthly group meetings we will have meet ups for kids, teens, college students, and more.

Come on out tomorrow. Bring your family and your friends!!

I can't wait to see you all and meet you!

If you have any questions please go to my Glam Without Gluten Facebook

Glam Forgetful Celiac

You all may or may have not read what damage celiac can cause if left untreated. Or what celiac leaves us to "clean up" . What it leaves us to deal with for the rest of our lives.

Neurological manifestations are what that lovely son of a beach ball celiac can leave us with. A lot of people think celiac only affects our guts. Oh how they are so wrong. I suffer on a daily basis from a neurological disorder.

July 2008 I was diagnosed with celiac. April 2011 is when I started having hemi-facial spasms. I was up all night with the left side of my face twitching off/on like a light switch. Nothing made it better. After over 12 hours it kind of becomes painful and annoying. I recorded it to send to my Husband as he was at work. He watched it and he suggested I go to the ER. After that day it was 3-4 months of test after test to try to figure out what was wrong.

Would you or wouldn't you try a cure for celiac?

Recently on my Glam Without Gluten Facebook  page and my closed support group Glam Without Gluten Support Group on Facebook I asked the following question :

If there was a cure, vaccine, or medication for celiac disease would you take it? Why/why not? Would you think about the risk vs benefits? Would you say "thanks but no thanks" and avoid any pharmaceutical intervention?

Here are some of the responses :
